Linebach Funkhouser Got the Lead Out.
LFI was retained by a group of Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs), consisting of five mining companies, to serve as the Project Coordinator for a lead assessment and remediation project, in accordance with the requirements of an Administrative Order on Consent (AOC) issued by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). LFI was selected over two national environmental engineering firms.
The AOC required the PRP group to assess and remediate lead-impacted soil at approximately 50 residences covering a three-county area in southeastern Missouri. During the course of the project, an additional 45 residences were added by EPA for additional characterization sampling and remediation.
LFI provided contractor oversight and direction throughout the project, and managed the waste staging area under an emergency permit issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) for the nearly 1,200 truckloads of excavated soil. LFI audited commercial waste disposal facilities on behalf of the PRP group, and assisted in arranging the profiling, shipment, and disposal of the soil.
Throughout the project, LFI prepared monthly progress reports for EPA and MDNR, and participated in weekly teleconferences with the five PRP companies and their legal counsel.
